Club Rules

The following Club Rules have been set forth and established by the past and present Board of Directors. Requests by a member to change or amend these Rules must be presented in writing to the current Board of Directors for due consideration.

These Club Rules are for the Oak Hills Women’s Golf Association (OHWGA) and do not supercede any other club rules. Please be aware of other club rules when playing in a tournament other than at Oak Hills.

The OHWGA has chosen to play winter rules for the entire season regardless of any other course posting. Therefore, if your ball is in the fairway of the hole you are playing, you may move it six inches in any direction but no closer to the hole. Also, you have the option to lift, clean and place your ball in the fairway within 6”, no closer to the hole. Other rules that remain in place for this season are as follows: If your ball is in a trap and a rock is in the way of your swing, you may remove the rock without penalty. Also, if your ball is in an unraked footprint or divot in a trap, you may lift your ball and rake and replace your ball without penalty. The drop area for hole 5 will be to the left of the green between the two small trees. These apply to all OHWGA tournaments played at Oak Hills.

The maximum allowable handicap for tournament-scoring purposes is 36 (33.2 index) for all tournaments played at Oak Hills. This means that if your handicap is 42, you receive  only 36 strokes during tournament play at Oak Hills. For “away tournaments” sponsored by OHWGA, you will receive the appropriate number of strokes that equate to a 33.2 index.

If the course is open during inclement weather, the player has the option to play in the tournament. If the course is open for play on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday, the tournament will be considered official and prizes will be awarded as scheduled.

All scores for rounds played home and away must be entered in the computer for handicap purposes except designated tournaments. All OHWGA tournaments should be entered as “H” (home) in the computer. Only the Club Championship, President's cup matches or outside tournaments designated by SNEWGA or SCWGA should be input as “T” (tournament) results.
